Brown Sugar Smoked Paprika Ham
This Brown Sugar Smoked Paprika Ham has the perfect balance of sweet, smoky, and savory flavors. The brown sugar creates a beautiful, caramelized glaze while smoked paprika adds depth and warmth. This ham goes perfectly with cheesy hashbrowns and a spring salad.

Ingredients you will need-
- 1 fully cooked bone-in ham (8–10 pounds)
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp smoked paprika
- 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 3 tbsp melted butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ cup water (for the roasting pan)
How to make-
1. Prepare the Ham
Preheat oven to 325°F.
Place the ham cut side down in a roasting pan.
Add about ½ cup water to the bottom of the pan to keep the ham moist.
2. Score the Ham
Using a sharp knife, lightly score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern.
This helps the glaze soak into the meat.
3. Make the Glaze
In a bowl mix together:
- brown sugar
- smoked paprika
- Dijon mustard
- melted butter
- garlic
- black pepper
It should form a thick paste.
4. Glaze the Ham
Rub the mixture evenly over the surface of the ham, pressing it into the scored cuts.
5. Bake
Cover loosely with foil and bake for about 1½–2 hours, or until the ham is heated through (about 140°F internal temperature).
6. Caramelize the Glaze
Remove the foil during the last 20 minutes of baking so the glaze can caramelize and form a flavorful crust.
7. Rest and Serve
Let the ham rest 10–15 minutes before slicing.
Tips-
- Score the ham for more flavor.
- Don’t skip the resting time before slicing.
- Use smoked paprika instead of regular paprika for deeper flavor.
