Biscuits and Gravy with a kick (bold, spicy, breakfast favorite)

This spicy biscuits and gravy recipe is rich, hearty, easy to make, and perfect for feeding a big family on slow weekend mornings.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 lbs. spicy breakfast sausage
  • 1/2 med. onion, diced
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 2 tsp. black pepper
  • 2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. onion powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 cans buttermilk biscuits

Method
 

  1. First start cooking the sausage in a large skillet or pot. Add in the diced onion and cook until nicely browned and cooked all the way through.
  2. Next heat the oven to 350 degrees and bake the biscuits 10-12 minutes. (I used the can biscuits for this recipe)
  3. After the sausage is cooked add in the flour, stir for 2 minutes then slowly add in your milk while whisking. Mix until there are no clumps of flour left. Add the seasonings and heat to a high simmer on medium heat until it starts to thicken, turn the heat down to low and simmer for a few minutes. Taste for seasoning
  4. Lastly split biscuits in half, ladle on the gravy, and enjoy!
